What?

CBT is a talking psychotherapy. Please watch our short video introduction. Refresh your browser if the video doesn’t load straight away.

For?

CBT is the treatment of choice for:

  • panic

  • phobias

  • OCD

  • general anxiety

  • health anxiety

  • social anxiety

  • depression

  • eating disorders

  • low self-esteem

  • PTSD and complex trauma

  • sleep disorders

  • stress

  • long-term conditions and pain

How?

Your problems are broken down into areas, with discussion led by the therapist:

  • situations

  • thoughts

  • emotions

  • physical feelings

  • actions

CBT is based on the concept of these areas being linked, effecting and maintaining each other. Working together, you and your therapist talk to identify your perception of specific problems in the present, set structured goals and find solutions. Techniques are learned in session and practised in your everyday.

Where?

Smart CBT+’s log cabins have been carefully designed to be a successful CBT space – both the Hygge Cabin and the Forest Cabin are oases of calm and reflection. Walking Talking Therapy takes CBT outdoors into a scenic park. CBT can also be conducted online or on the phone. If you are not sure which location will suit you the best, why not experiment and find out?

The psychology

Understanding your vicious cycle of current feelings thoughts and behaviours in specific situations provides insight into your past and the changes needed for your future. CBT aims to help you change, doing and thinking differently to improve the way you feel. It looks for practical ways to improve your state of mind on a daily basis by establishing a healthy cycle. Evidence-based cognitive and behavioural knowledge and techniques can help you overcome distress and build resilience.
